As of March 18, 2024, the Ibaraki Prefectural Police announced that they had arrested and referred to prosecutors nine male junior and senior high school students aged 15 to 17 living in Ishioka City and Tsuchiura City on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act (prohibition of joint dangerous acts, etc.) for allegedly engaging in group motorcycle reckless riding and throwing raw eggs at a police car.

All of the suspects admitted to the charges and stated that they "enjoyed playing tag with the police car."

According to the announcement, the nine suspects were riding six mopeds on National Route 125 in Tsuchiura City at around 3:45 AM on November 29th of last year, running red lights and driving erratically. Police have also referred two other suspects, aged 17 and 18, to prosecutors on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act (driving without a license).

The 11 suspects are also suspected of obstruction of business by intimidation after throwing raw eggs at Tsuchiura Police Station at around 3:40 AM that same day, damaging a total of six police cars and investigative vehicles, as well as the station's entrance.

Furthermore, from around 1 AM that same day, the 11 suspects made false emergency calls to 110 near the police station and Tsuchiura Station, summoning police cars and then driving recklessly, escaping their pursuit. They called this grave-hunting behavior the "Mappo Game," and continued to do so repeatedly.

They said, "We thought that if we threw raw eggs, the police cars would get more excited and chase us."
