As of March 18, 2024, the Ibaraki Prefectural Police announced that they had arrested and referred to prosecutors nine male junior and senior high school students aged 15 to 17 living in Ishioka City and Tsuchiura City on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act (prohibition of joint dangerous acts, etc.) for allegedly engaging in group motorcycle reckless riding and throwing raw eggs at a police car.

All of the suspects admitted to the charges and stated that they "enjoyed playing tag with the police car."

According to the announcement, the nine suspects were riding six mopeds on National Route 125 in Tsuchiura City at around 3:45 AM on November 29th of last year, running red lights and driving erratically. Police have also referred two other suspects, aged 17 and 18, to prosecutors on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act (driving without a license).

The 11 suspects are also suspected of obstruction of business by intimidation after throwing raw eggs at Tsuchiura Police Station at around 3:40 AM that same day, damaging a total of six police cars and investigative vehicles, as well as the station's entrance.

Furthermore, from around 1 AM that same day, the 11 suspects made false emergency calls to 110 near the police station and Tsuchiura Station, summoning police cars and then driving recklessly, escaping their pursuit. They called this grave-hunting behavior the "Mappo Game," and continued to do so repeatedly.

They said, "We thought that if we threw raw eggs, the police cars would get more excited and chase us."

Egging in Japan …Part Ⅶ 〜New Type Egging! ~(^!^) ~ Egg Throwing Contest!?

Throw a boiled egg as far as possible without cracking it. ...The key to victory is flexible thinking. 〜〜Elementary School Egg Throwing Contest

1: ★: 2022/08/23 (Tue) 12:12:51.

https://www.sut-tv.com/news/data/17505/t-image.jpg

An invention club in Mishima City, Shizuoka Prefecture, which offers hands-on classes to elementary school students to teach them the joy of craftsmanship, held a unique boiled egg throwing contest. The deciding factor was ideas born from flexible thinking.

Flexible Thinking and Ideas

On August 23rd, elementary school students gathered at a venue in Mishima City.

28 students from 4th to 6th grade participated in the contest. It was called the "Egg Throwing Contest!"

 There were four main rules:

 - Throw a boiled egg as far as possible using any throwing technique.

 - If the boiled egg breaks, there is no record.

 - Using a single sheet of newspaper, glue, staples, etc., participants come up with ways to keep an egg from breaking.

 - Participants compete to see who can throw the farthest a boiled egg can land on the floor.

In this contest, participants create a protective container (buffer) for an egg using a single sheet of newspaper, and then compete to see who can throw it the furthest without breaking it.

The key to victory is flexibility and ingenuity in figuring out what kind of buffer to make to keep the egg from breaking with limited tools, and how to throw it.

Instructor:

The idea isn't bad. However, throwing it wrapped up like this is difficult. How you throw it is important.

The organizer, the Mishima Boys and Girls Invention Club, holds hands-on classes twice a month, and this contest was a special one held once a year. The instructors are people who used to work for manufacturers in eastern Fukushima, and they teach children the joy of making things.

Instructor:

We want the children to learn by being taught something by someone outside of school. This time, I want you to learn about creativity and challenges by solving the given problem.

◆Learning from Failure

Ms.Lino came up with the idea of "Accordion Strategy," which involves repeatedly folding the newspaper used to wrap eggs. This idea aims to increase its strength and cushioning.

How do we make it stronger? Accordion.

 Ms.Lino:

I'll double it. But it seems pretty weak. I want to strengthen the non-accidental sides. Since newspaper is thin, I thought it would be difficult to make it stronger.

After completing the first prototype and throwing it...it flew far enough, but the sound it made when it hit the ground made me realize how powerful the impact was.

2: ★: 2022/08/23 (Tue) 12:13:00.32 ID:CAP_USER.net[2/2]

Ms.Lino learned that things don't always go as planned, so he made multiple prototypes and repeated trial and error in preparation for the real thing.

 Mother, Emi:

Sometimes doing things exactly as in the textbook doesn't work, so I encourage my children to try different things, tinker with things, fail, and then think about what to do next.

 Lino:

We'll try our best and try new things! Our goal is to win!

◆Let's compete with unique ideas!

On the day of the competition, each team will use the ideas they brought to make their own cushioning material.

One team used shredded newspaper as a cushion, while another wrapped eggs in accordion-shaped newspaper like the straw used to wrap natto.

There were also a variety of ideas, such as leaving the eggs exposed and making a three-dimensional boomerang out of a long, thin stick.

Rino combined a teammate's idea of making a box out of newspaper with her own idea of using accordion-shaped cushioning.

The winning team recorded a height of 11.53 meters. The idea was to stuff small rolled-up pieces of newspaper into the gaps between the newspaper wrapping the egg, and miraculously, the egg didn't crack even once.

 Winning participant:

If you use newspaper like a spring, the egg won't crack at all.

 Winning participant:

It was fun, and I learned how to make an egg not crack.

Lino narrowly missed out on winning, but he managed to keep his egg intact one of his two throws, setting a record of 5m 46cm.

Instructor:

I think each team made something different, their method of making it, and their philosophy were all different. Everyone really tried their best, considering it was their first time.

This contest taught the children the importance of innovation through repeated failure and success.

Perhaps it gave the children the motivation to use their ideas to try new things.

By the way, the children apparently took the boiled eggs used in the contest home to eat.

【Baseball】 Someone poured kerosene on the Ichiro Memorial Hall and threw instant noodles and raw eggs at it...the perpetrator said, "I wanted to make a mess."

1: 2020/04/15 (Wed) 08:33:44

Since the end of last year, the Ichiro Memorial Hall "I-Fine," located in Toyoyama Town, Aichi Prefecture, the hometown of former Major League Baseball player Ichiro (46), has been the target of repeated incidents, including kerosene being poured on the area and raw eggs being thrown at it. The Aichi Prefectural Police and Nishibiwajima Police Station arrested an unemployed man (48) from Minami Ward, Nagoya, on suspicion of property damage in connection with the incidents. The arrest took place on March 25, 2020.

According to police, the man is suspected of pouring kerosene on the mat at the entrance to the museum and throwing instant noodles and raw eggs at it at around 1:45 AM on December 8, 2019, and at around 11:40 PM on March 18 this year, defacing it.

The man has admitted to the charges, saying he "wanted to deface the museum."

The museum's representative, Ichiro's father, Suzuki Nobuyuki (77), filed a report of the incident with police.

Security cameras at the museum captured footage of the man pouring liquid from what appeared to be a plastic container and throwing eggs. The man is said to have never met Ichiro or Nobuyuki.

The museum opened in November 2000 and displays memorabilia related to Ichiro, including his baseball equipment.

Nobuyuki said in an interview, "I'm glad the incidents have stopped. I'll be watching closely to see how the investigation progresses."

【Kagoshima】 Out-of-prefecture license plate. Eggs thrown at me. Even though it's a neighboring city with no confirmed cases.

1: Saturday, May 16, 2020, 8:09:40 PM

Even across prefectural borders, we're all in the same community. Let's join hands and overcome this difficult situation.

On May 15, 2020, the mayors of Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture, and Izumi City, Kagoshima Prefecture, which are located on the border between Kumamoto and Kagoshima Prefectures, where the state of emergency due to the spread of COVID-19 has now been lifted, issued a joint message. The background to this is said to be the tense atmosphere surrounding COVID-19 and the insensitive behavior of some Japanese people.

The messages from the mayors of Minamata and Izumi emphasized, "While we are still being asked to refrain from non-essential travel across prefectural borders (even after the state of emergency is lifted), we understand that this does not mean we are being asked to refrain from activities that are essential to our lives, such as commuting to work or school, or shopping, which are essential for daily life." They called for unity among the citizens of both cities, saying, "As fellow residents of the same community, we can overcome this difficult situation by understanding, cooperating, and joining hands."

Many residents regularly cross the prefectural border between the two cities for commuting to work or school, or shopping. As of that date, there have been no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in either city.

However, according to Minamata city, earlier this month, before the state of emergency was lifted, they received information that "eggs were thrown at a car with Kumamoto license plates in the parking lot of a supermarket in Izumi city." A senior official in Minamata city told the Asahi Shimbun, "I heard that a shopper from Minamata was told by another customer at a (different) supermarket in Izumi city, 'People from Minamata, shop in Minamata city!' There are fewer infections in Kagoshima prefecture than in Kumamoto prefecture, so I think there is a difference in attitude."

"We want to overcome this together, hand in hand, without being divided by the prefectural border," said the official, explaining the significance of the message.

Both cities posted the message on their websites the same day.

"Don't bring COVID here from outside the prefecture!"

A raw egg was hurled at him, accompanied by an angry shout, and shattered against the rear window of a car.

A 52-year-old office worker from Tosu City, Saga Prefecture, still recalls the scene.

The man, originally from Mifune Town, was returning from a family funeral in mid-May 2020 after stopping at a convenience store in Yamaga City and was returning to his parked car with Saga license plates.

The attacker was an elderly man on a bicycle. His wife and the man, who were inside the car, were stunned by fear and shock. "We tried to call the police, but were too scared to do so. We quickly left, not wanting to be victimized any further."

Sudden, one-sided hostility in our hometown of Kumamoto.

The victim recalled, "I was upset that they attacked us without even checking why we came from outside the prefecture."

【The infamous self-restraint police】 Why do the self-restraint police throw eggs at ordinary people but remain silent about nightclub owners (The YAKUZA)?

1: 2020/06/23 (Tue) 14:37:16.

http://img.5ch.net/ico/1fu.gif

Inquiries about discrimination and human rights violations related to the coronavirus are continuing to come in from within Kumamoto Prefecture.

In many cases, strong vigilance against infection is a contributing factor, and government agencies responding to the situation are urging people to "base their words and actions on solid evidence and facts."

A woman in her 20s from Kumamoto City was refused treatment at an osteopathic clinic in the city in May 2020, after being mistaken for a patient living in Tokyo.

The woman was job-hunting. Her grandmother, who came with her, said, "My granddaughter has an interview in Tokyo..." When several employees heard this and started talking in the back, they told the woman, "We can't treat people from Tokyo!"

Unable to contain her frustration and sadness, the woman left the clinic without receiving treatment.

She responded calmly, thinking, "They were probably overreacting because of their growing fear and suspicion of the coronavirus."

As of the 22nd, the Human Rights and Dowa Policy Division of public institutions in the prefecture had received 32 consultations regarding discrimination. In Kumamoto City, a total of 10 cases were reported to the Kumamoto City Human Rights Policy Division, Kumamoto City Public Health Center, and Kumamoto City Board of Education.

Furthermore, discrimination complaints have been received by the Kumamoto District Legal Affairs Bureau and other organizations.

A woman who was refused treatment expressed her hope that "people, including those who overreact, will be able to understand the feelings of victims."

◆Listening to the Voices of Those Involved

An associate professor of sociology at Kumamoto Gakuen University said:

Regarding COVID-19 discrimination, anxiety and fear about the invisible virus are leading to excessive vigilance toward visible infected people.

The actions of the "self-restraint police" (Note: These are not actual police officers, but ordinary civilians, most of whom are unemployed elderly people at the bottom of society who are harboring frustration and feelings of inferiority. They are a group formed arbitrarily to thoroughly monitor neighbors and enforce self-restraint, calling themselves the "self-restraint police." They have no official character whatsoever.) are motivated by a distorted sentiment that "I will not tolerate people who engage in risk-increasing behavior while I am self-restraining!"

In Japan in particular, there is strong pressure to conform and mutual surveillance.

If even medical workers and people engaged in economic activity are oppressed, the risk to society as a whole will increase.

Imagining such a situation would require tolerance, but in reality, it is not easy to ask people to be tolerant of those around them.

A 73-year-old man and another man, both working in the cleaning industry, were arrested for throwing raw eggs at a park toilet.

This is the scene of the crime. The eggs were splattered in a park toilet in Asakita Ward, Hiroshima City. Katsuhiko Yoshida and Noboru Fujimoto, both from Asaminami Ward, were arrested for throwing raw eggs on the floor and other surfaces.

Because of the crude method, one might think the perpetrators were young people, but both men are around 70 years old.

Furthermore, what's strange is their profession. They work in the cleaning industry, a job that should make them despise such acts of vandalism.

The crime scene involved four toilets in three parks.

The crimes are believed to have occurred between the 7th and 9th of last month.

The arrest was triggered by questioning another company responsible for cleaning the area. It was discovered that this other company had previously had trouble with Yoshida and others. Is this related to the trouble?

The two men are suspected of committing a total of 36 similar offenses. The police had been conducting a thorough investigation.

Yoshida has admitted to the charges.

On the other hand, Fujimoto said, "I will think about it carefully before I speak."

【Osaka】"We wanted to liven up our friend's birthday party by attacking the prefectural police, throwing raw eggs at patrol cars, and beating them with wooden swords." 16 boys were arrested by the police on suspicion of group reckless driving.

2018/03/08 (Thu) 20:00:19.

◆ "We tried to hit the patrol cars with wooden swords." 16 boys aged 15-17 arrested on suspicion of group reckless driving. Osaka. The Osaka Prefectural Police Traffic Investigation Division announced on March 8, 2018, that they had arrested 16 boys aged 15 to 17 from Osaka City on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act (joint dangerous conduct) and obstructing official duties, for allegedly riding motorcycles recklessly in a group and hitting a patrol car with a wooden sword.

According to the division, one 17-year-old boy denies the charges, stating, "I have no recollection of this." However, the remaining boys confessed, stating, "We rode recklessly to celebrate a friend's birthday. To liven up the reckless driving, we decided to attack the prefectural police, throw raw eggs at the patrol car, and hit it with a wooden sword."

The charges stem from an incident on August 2nd of last year, in the early hours of the morning, when the boys, riding on eight motorcycles, rode recklessly in a group for about 20 minutes on a national highway in the city, ignoring traffic signals. Furthermore, they allegedly struck a pursuing patrol car with a wooden sword and threw raw eggs at it.

No police officers were injured.

 [Kanagawa, Odawara City]

A man was doused with oil, had eggs thrown at him, and a can of mackerel in miso soup thrown at him by an unemployed woman, before being run over and having his right arm severely injured. Kanagawa.

In Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture, a 65-year-old woman was arrested for attempting to kill a neighboring man by colliding her car with him after he tried to warn her about noise.

The woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder is Tokuko Komatsu, a 65-year-old unemployed woman from Tajima, Odawara City.

According to the police, on August 17, 2017, shortly after 11 PM, Komatsu allegedly attempted to kill a 47-year-old male neighbor in the parking lot of her home by colliding her car with him and then driving with him on the hood of the car.

Since around June of this year, there had been numerous complaints from neighbors about the noise from Komatsu's home, including her television and wind chimes. On the 17th, when the man tried to warn her about the trouble with the neighbors, Komatsu, who had just returned home in her car, suddenly started the car.

The victimized man stated, "I have previously been doused with oil, had eggs thrown at me, and a can of mackerel in miso soup thrown at me by Komatsu. On the 17th, when I stood in front of her car, she suddenly started the car and hit me. I thought I would be run over and killed if I fell, so I clung to the car. She drove forward while looking at my face. This act was nothing but terror."

The victim sustained injuries to his arm and other parts of his body.

In response to police questioning, Komatsu denied the charges, stating, "I had no intention to kill." http://www.news24.jp/articles/2017/08/19/07370167.html?cx_recsclick=0

The second son, who threw eggs, barricaded himself in his home with a kitchen knife and, after 7 and a half hours, was raided by police.

On September 27, 2017, around 7:20 PM, a female resident of an apartment in Sone Minamimachi 1-chome, Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture, called 119, reporting that "my son is acting violently at home."

The woman's son, in his 20s, shouted "I want to die," brandished a kitchen knife at police officers, and barricaded himself in his home.

Approximately 30 members of the First Investigation Division's Special Investigation Team (MAAT) were dispatched, and after 7 and a half hours, they broke down the front door and raided the house, arresting the son on suspicion of obstructing official duties.

Neither the mother nor the son were injured.

The scene is a residential area near Hattori Tenjin Station on the Hankyu Takarazuka Line.

Nearby residents gathered, and the scene was temporarily chaotic.

According to the Toyonaka South Police Station, the man is suspected of throwing a pot of miso soup and several eggs at two police officers. The son stated, "I don't accept being arrested." http://www.asahi.com/articles/ASK9X365JK9XPTIL003.html

[Who is responsible?] A malicious prank involving throwing raw eggs, plates, and oranges from a high-rise apartment building has occurred in Musashi-Kosugi, a highly desirable neighborhood.

Raw eggs, plastic bottles, plates, and even oranges...

In the area around Musashi-Kosugi Station (Nakahara Ward, Kawasaki City), which is becoming increasingly popular due to its excellent access to the city center, various objects are falling from a high-rise apartment building, terrifying pedestrians and nearby residents.

The Nakahara Police Station of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police is investigating the incidents under the Minor Offenses Act (dropping dangerous objects). However, most of the cases remain unsolved.

What is happening now in this "dream town," which ranks among the top five in "livable city rankings"?

■Looking Up

On the sidewalk in front of the apartment building where falling objects have been repeatedly discovered, during the daytime on weekdays, mothers with babies, housewives going shopping, and office workers frequently pass by.

During the morning commute and school hours, it is overflowing with people and bustling with activity.

This apartment building is close to Musashi-Kosugi Station, which is served by the JR Yokosuka Line, JR Nambu Line, and Tokyu Toyoko Line. Nearly 50-story high-rise apartment buildings also line the surrounding area. It is extremely difficult for pedestrians to notice and avoid falling objects.

■Unstoppable Falling Objects

The first falling object was confirmed on September 24th of last year. It started with a plate falling, and on the 27th of the same month, a plastic bottle containing liquid fell.

According to the Nakahara Police Station, after a "bang" sound, fragments of the plastic bottle and a yellow liquid were found scattered on the ground. In October and November of the same year, a total of 30 raw eggs were thrown from another nearby apartment building, and one incident occurred where an egg hit a female pedestrian.

Through questioning in the surrounding area, a male student from Keio University, then 22 years old, who lived in the same apartment building, was identified as a suspect.  Since a raw egg fell right in front of the police officers who were staking out the building, he was referred to the public prosecutor's office in November for violating the Minor Offenses Act.

The university student confessed to the selfish motive of "being frustrated because my job hunting was unsuccessful." However, the investigation revealed that he was not involved in the other falling object incidents. The residents, who were initially relieved, continued to live in fear.

Since the beginning of this year, the situation has escalated further, as if mocking the residents' concerns.

On February 12, 2016, an alarm clock fell. On March 4 of the same year, a wire mesh from a pet cage fell. On March 12, an orange fell. These are believed to have fallen from the same apartment building from which plates and plastic bottles had previously fallen. There have been a total of five falling object incidents.

The Karatsu Police Station re-arrested three boys—an 18-year-old part-time worker, a 16-year-old unemployed boy, and a 14-year-old junior high school student—all residents of Karatsu City, and arrested a 15-year-old unemployed boy on August 16, 2017, on suspicion of obstructing official duties.

The four are suspected of throwing eggs at two police cars on a national highway in Karatsu City around 4:05 AM and 4:30 AM on July 27, 2017.

The three who were re-arrested have admitted to the charges. The 15-year-old boy denies the charges, stating, "I was at the scene, but I didn't throw any eggs."

According to the police station, the police cars were conducting traffic enforcement against reckless driving, and it is believed that the four boys threw the eggs from the side of the national highway.

The three who were re-arrested had previously been arrested on August 5th on suspicion of stealing eggs from a supermarket in the city shortly before the incident.

In September of this year, police arrested a 21-year-old man and his 18-year-old younger brother, a high school student, for damaging cars by throwing raw eggs at them while they were driving on the Tomei Expressway in Oi Town, Kanagawa Prefecture.

The brothers reportedly threw approximately 500 raw eggs at the cars. Police are investigating further.

In the early morning and late at night of September 20th of this year, police received a series of reports of "cars being hit with raw eggs" on the northbound lane of the Tomei Expressway in Oi Town, Kanagawa Prefecture.

Based on witness testimonies and other evidence, police strongly suspected that a 21-year-old company employee from Hadano City, Kanagawa Prefecture, and his 18-year-old younger brother, a third-year high school student, threw raw eggs from a bridge over the expressway at a moving car, causing a dent in the roof.

Police arrested the brothers on suspicion of violating the Act on Punishment of Violent Acts and Property Damage.

According to the police, the two men obtained approximately 500 raw eggs through shoplifting and other means, and threw most of them at approximately 50 moving cars. Several cars reportedly had cracked windshields.

During questioning, the two reportedly confessed, "We did it as a prank. We enjoyed seeing the surprised faces of the drivers."

Two other boys were also reportedly at the scene.

Police plan to refer the two to the public prosecutor's office. November 10, 2015, 3:52 PM

[Hyogo] "Inspired by the 'Mayonnaise Incident.' Also due to exam stress." Five first-year high school boys who threw raw eggs at passersby were referred to prosecutors.

1:

2016/04/01 (Fri) 22:30:13

Regarding an incident in November 2015 in which passersby were repeatedly hit with raw eggs on a street in Hyogo Ward, Kobe City, the Hyogo Police Station of the Hyogo Prefectural Police referred five boys, all 15 years old and first-year high school students from the same ward (who were in their third year of junior high school at the time), to prosecutors on April 1, 2016, on suspicion of assault and violation of the Act on Punishment of Violent Acts.

According to the police station, the boys were inspired by another incident that month in which another boy threw mayonnaise at a passerby. The boys stated, "We wanted to do something that would get attention. We were influenced by watching videos of people throwing raw eggs on Twitter. Stress from high school entrance exams was also a contributing factor."

The charges for which they were referred to prosecutors include throwing a raw egg at the right hand of a man in his 60s on the street in Shimosawa-dori, Hyogo Ward, on the night of November 30 last year. They are also charged with throwing raw eggs at the head and right elbow of a woman in her 60s on a street in Minato-cho, Hyogo Ward.

The boys admitted to the charges, stating, "We targeted elderly people because we thought we wouldn't get caught."

POLTERGEIST

 Friday, October 24, 2025:

In the evening, I watched a movie in the Japanese-style room. Recorded on an external HDD connected to a SHARP AQUOS TV. Broadcast on October 22, 2025, from 13:00 to 14:57. NHK BS, BS101. Premium Cinema "POLTERGEIST" (subtitled. Language: English. 1982, USA).

I should have seen it on TV a long time ago, but I didn't remember anything about the content, the plot, or the faces of the cast. It was practically like watching it for the first time.

The world depicted by Spielberg is consistent from "Jaws" to the recent "Jurassic Park" series. While it seems like an entertainment film for children, his worldview is evident. He depicts people fighting relentlessly against an unknown, overwhelming monster.

Incidentally, there was a scene where middle-aged men gathered in the protagonist's living room, engrossed in watching an American football game on TV, and received a complaint from a middle-aged man living next door, leading to trouble. This scene was depicted in a humorous way.

From the perspective of us Japanese people, who live in small houses often referred to as "matchboxes," it's surprising that these men, who are still young, have purchased and live in such ultra-luxurious mansions.

In Japanese residential areas, where small houses are densely packed on narrow plots of land, neighborhood disputes are commonplace, and shocking incidents are occasionally reported.

However, it was surprising to learn that even in American residential areas, where mansions line vast plots of land, there are noise disputes caused by TV sound. I was surprised, thinking, "There are neighborhood disputes even in American residential areas."

This reminded me of the "egg-throwing woman" incident, which resulted in a guilty verdict in a criminal trial last year. This incident also shocked the Japanese people.

Below are excerpts from several news articles.

[Horror] "Woman who threw raw eggs" sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison. The judge said, "Please make this the last time." The defendant nodded silently.

This was the trial of a woman accused of repeatedly throwing raw eggs at the wall of her neighbor's house in Kawabe Town, Gifu Prefecture.

She was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison.

On August 7th of this year, the defendant, Yoshiko Kakamu (53 years old), was put into a police car after glaring at her neighbor's house and shouting insults such as "You old hag! Remember this, you old hag!"

She was charged with throwing raw eggs at her neighbor's house multiple times between November of last year and August of this year, damaging and soiling the wall. The trial reached its verdict day on the 31st.

The harassment by the "egg-throwing woman" continued daily for four years. "Two packs a day." "The reason is unknown." The victimized woman recounts her days of suffering.

https://news.yahoo.co.jp/articles/8cf29b182f6eda4783adf1447fd0feed9d16f093

"She would start throwing them as early as 7:20 in the morning, and continue until 8 or 9 at night. The eggs would even pierce through the screen door and get stuck. When she threw hard-boiled eggs, they would leave holes. I clean it about once a week, but she throws them every day, so it's endless. It's disgusting, infuriating, sad, and painful..." (Victim)

Seven security cameras were installed, but the harassment did not stop. Even the air conditioner, which is essential at this time of year, was affected. "(The egg liquid) stuck to the outdoor unit, making it unusable. One of the two units is broken." The cleaning and painting of the wall, and the installation of security cameras, have cost over 2 million yen so far.

I was the one who harassed my neighbor by throwing raw eggs at their house every day for four years. The "egg-throwing woman" has been arrested. Raw eggs were repeatedly thrown from a neighboring house onto a woman's home. This "raw egg throwing incident" occurred in Kawabe Town, Gifu Prefecture.

Regarding the incident, Ryoko Kakamu, a 53-year-old unemployed woman, was arrested and sent to the public prosecutor's office on suspicion of violating the Gifu Prefecture Ordinance on Prevention of Annoying Behavior, but she is reportedly denying the charges, stating to the police, "I didn't do it."

In this ABEMA news program, we interviewed the female victim in her 50s. Upon visiting the victim's home, we found blackened raw eggs clinging to the exterior wall. Eggshells were also scattered on the ground. She said, "I cleaned it up on July 25th, and this is what it looks like after 10 days. She was throwing them until the day before her arrest." The woman had filmed the moments of the egg throwing with a security camera. This harassment had reportedly continued every day for four years.

The victim currently lives with her husband, and they purchased the house 24 years ago. The harassment began about four and a half years ago, but she says, "I don't know the reason. I want her to tell me what she was thinking when she threw them." According to the victim, Kakamu was also arrested three years ago on the same charges, but she continued the harassing behavior afterward. According to the victim, at the peak, she would throw "about two packs (20 eggs) a day. That was when they were cheap. Lately, she seems to be saving money by only throwing one pack (10 eggs)."

 The victimized woman:

"Around the beginning of December 2019, eggs were thrown onto the balcony and into the garden."

She says she has been suffering from this harassment almost every day for about five years.

Feeling her safety was threatened, the woman installed a security camera. Although Kagami was once arrested on the same charge three years ago, she reportedly continued the same behavior afterward. She was arrested three years ago (but released soon after),

and she's been repeating the same thing every single day.

Even though she's clearly caught on security cameras,

it takes several years to get an arrest for something as minor as throwing raw eggs...

And she'll probably be released again soon,

and then she'll probably start throwing raw eggs again...

The damage to the victim's house's exterior walls, property, and air conditioner outdoor unit was horrific. It was exactly like the condition of a chicken coop at a poultry farm run by a livestock farmer.

More than anything, what surprised the Japanese people was the woman's persistence.

After Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, it became difficult to obtain livestock fertilizer from Ukraine in Japan, and the price of fertilizer skyrocketed. Furthermore, due to economic sanctions imposed on Russia by Western countries, the price of fertilizer production and import also soared in developing countries that depend on Russian crude oil and natural gas. Because Japan relies on imports of primary products and processed goods from countries like China, prices rose even further. As a result, the price of eggs, which have long been called the "king of prices" in Japan, doubled.

The "egg-throwing woman" was throwing several packs of eggs at her neighbor's walls and windows every day in this situation. A simple calculation shows that if she spent 500 yen a day, that would be 15,000 yen a month, 180,000 yen a year, and around 700,000 yen over four years. The "egg-throwing woman" must have wanted to vent her anger at her hateful neighbor so badly that she resorted to such extreme measures. What incredible vindictiveness!

It's somewhat logical, though. Throwing stones wouldn't cost anything, but it wouldn't stain the neighbor's wall. Also, since the distance between the neighbor's wall and her own house was only about one meter, any stones thrown at the neighbor's wall would likely bounce back and damage her own house.

Tomatoes could stain the wall, but they are even more expensive than eggs, so she couldn't throw many. Cherry tomatoes wouldn't cause much damage.

Splashing liquids like milk or tomato juice would likely stain her own property as well.

The "egg-throwing woman" probably decided that a barrage of eggs was the optimal weapon for revenge.

It seems the "egg-throwing woman" had been having trouble with the woman who moved in next door (the victim), after being insulted by her.

This incident has once again made me acutely aware of the vindictiveness of some Japanese women.

Previously, the "futon-beating noise woman" incident and the "boombox noise woman" incident also shocked and horrified the entire country.

I don't know if it's due to the influence of the "egg-throwing woman," but in recent years, "egg-throwing incidents" have been frequently reported in Japan.

It seems that some self-proclaimed "Japanese people" now immediately throw eggs at their hated targets whenever something displeases them. Often, it's just a case of taking out their frustrations on someone else.

I, as an old man, feel that we've entered a frightening era.

I've always wondered, "Why do they want to throw eggs so much?" I've never thrown eggs, tomatoes, or Molotov cocktails.

Below are some excerpts from news articles about egg-throwing incidents.

Three 17-year-olds arrested on suspicion of throwing raw eggs at police cars and police boxes

According to the Urawa Police Station, two high school students are suspected of conspiring to drive two mopeds around JR Musashi-Urawa Station in Minami Ward, Saitama City, for about 10 minutes from around 11:10 PM on November 6th last year, committing traffic violations such as running red lights, driving against traffic, and driving on sidewalks. The unemployed boy was riding on one of the mopeds.

Furthermore, a few tens of minutes later, the three are also suspected of conspiring to throw raw eggs at two police cars and a police box in the same ward and Sakura Ward of the same city. Approximately 20 eggs were used.

The mopeds were registered in the names of the individuals or their families. One moped had no license plate, and the other's license plate was bent to make it unreadable. The prefectural police believe this was done to evade detection. (Tomonori Asada)

Out-of-prefecture license plate, victim of egg-throwing. Even though it's a neighboring city with no infected people.

"We are comrades in the same living area, even across prefectural borders. Let's join hands and overcome this difficult situation."

On the 15th, the mayors of Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture, and Izumi City, Kagoshima Prefecture, both located on the Kumamoto-Kagoshima prefectural border, where the state of emergency declaration due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection has been lifted, issued such a joint message. The background to this is the tense atmosphere related to the coronavirus and some thoughtless behavior. A message from Minamata Mayor Toshiharu Takaoka and Izumi Mayor Shinichi Shiiki emphasized that "(even after the state of emergency declaration is lifted) we are still being asked to refrain from non-essential travel across prefectural borders, but we understand that this does not mean we are being asked to refrain from essential activities such as commuting to work or school, or shopping for daily necessities." They called for unity among the citizens of both cities, stating, "As neighbors in the same living area, let's deepen our understanding, cooperate with each other, and work together to overcome this difficult situation."

Many residents of both cities regularly cross the prefectural border for commuting, school, and shopping. As of that day, neither city had confirmed any cases of COVID-19 infection.

However, according to Minamata City officials, in early May, before the lifting of the state of emergency declaration, they received information that "eggs were thrown at a car with a Kumamoto license plate in a supermarket parking lot in Izumi City." A Minamata City official told the Asahi Shimbun,

"We also heard a story about a shopper from Minamata being told by another customer at (another) supermarket in Izumi City, 'People from Minamata should shop in Minamata.'  There seems to be a difference in sentiment because there are fewer infected people in Kagoshima Prefecture than in Kumamoto Prefecture."

"We want to overcome this together, without being divided by the prefectural border," the official said, explaining the significance of the message. Both cities posted the message on their websites that day.

A leader of a pro-independence group throwing eggs at the Chiang Kai-shek statue inside the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall = From the YouTube channel of the Taiwan Solidarity Union

(Taipei, CNA) The Taipei City Police Department arrested Chen Chun-han, director of the pro-independence group "Taiwan National Office," on the morning of the 22nd for throwing eggs at the Chiang Kai-shek statue inside the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei City.  After questioning, the police stated that they would not rule out the possibility of referring him to the prosecutor's office on charges of violating the Cultural Heritage Preservation Act and other offenses. In a statement, the office explained that the motive was to express dissatisfaction with remarks made recently by Minister of Culture Lee Yung-te regarding the transformation of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.

At around 9:00 AM on the 22nd, the Zhongzheng First Precinct received a report that "someone had thrown something at the Chiang Kai-shek statue inside the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall." Responding to the report, police officers rushed to the scene and apprehended Chen.

In its statement, the office referred to Lee's remarks at a press conference on the 20th, where he stated that "the current position of the protesters is somewhat moderate, and they are not advocating for the demolition of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall or the removal of the statue," and criticized Lee's remarks, saying, "Such remarks by Minister Lee consider the tolerance of the Taiwanese people as weakness and show absolutely no consideration for the pain of political victims and their descendants." Therefore, they explained, "We were forced to express the idea that justice would not be revealed unless the statue was removed, using 'unconventional' methods such as throwing eggs." According to the spokesperson's office, this is the sixth time since 2015 that the group has taken action within the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall to demand the removal of the statue.

On the 20th, Mr. Lee told reporters regarding the transformation of the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, "It is our responsibility to objectively express the truth of history," and clarified that at this time, the policy is to first implement an "artist-in-residence" program where artists stay and engage in creative activities.

Following the coronavirus pandemic, attacks against French people in the German border region with France have intensified, and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas strongly condemned this on the 11th.

Foreign Minister Maas posted on Twitter:

"The coronavirus has no nationality. The same is true for human dignity. It is painful to see that some of our French friends are being insulted and attacked because of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease)."

"Such acts are completely unacceptable. Moreover, we are now in the same situation." Anke Rehlinger, the Minister of Economy for the German state of Saarland, which borders the French Grand Est region, also condemned the incidents on April 8th, stating, "I have heard that French people are being insulted and having eggs thrown at them. Those who do such things are committing a crime against international friendship," and offered an apology.

A few days earlier, the mayor of Gersheim, a small town located along the French border, complained on the news site t-online about "a certain hostility towards our French friends" in his region.

The mayor stated that while some people are being insulted or stopped on the street, others "no longer have the courage to come here." Because the situation in Gersheim had deteriorated so much, the mayor posted a video on Facebook, speaking directly to local residents.

Some French people have reported being spat on while walking outside or waiting in line at supermarkets. According to the mayor, some have also been told to "go back to your country ruled by coronavirus."

South Korean researcher Lee Woo-young, who was protesting against comfort women statues, assaulted and had eggs thrown at him - Seoul [1/9]

According to South Korean media outlets such as Pen and Mike on January 8, 2020, an incident occurred in which Lee Woo-young, a research fellow at the Nakseongdae Economic Research Institute in South Korea, who was protesting against the installation of comfort women and forced labor statues, was assaulted. According to the article, Mr. Lee was participating in a demonstration near the Japanese Embassy in Seoul with about 10 other people around 12:30 PM that day when a citizen suddenly approached him and punched him in the left jaw. Mr. Lee and the other demonstrators were holding placards that read "Japan is a friend and ally of South Korea" and banners with messages wishing for Japan-South Korea friendship. A "Wednesday Rally" condemning the Japanese government for its handling of the comfort women issue was also being held very close to the scene. The citizen who committed the assault was immediately taken into custody by the police.

A few minutes earlier, another citizen had thrown raw eggs at Mr. Lee and the other demonstrators. Furthermore, some citizens intentionally stopped their vehicles in front of the demonstrators or honked their horns to disrupt the protest.

The citizen who threw the eggs claimed that "Mr. Lee, who only looks at Japanese records and makes claims based on them, is a Japanese spy," and that "he is ignoring Korean traditions and the claims of survivors."  He also stated, "The police allowing (Mr. Lee) to demonstrate in the heart of the city is an unjust act of official misconduct. Citizens must rise up to enact a law to punish those who praise Japanese imperialism and distort history like Mr. Lee." Regarding the egg throwing, he said, "I prepared 20 eggs, but the police confiscated them, so I could only throw 4 or 5. One of them hit Mr. Lee."

In response, many South Korean netizens expressed dissatisfaction with the police's handling of the situation, with comments such as, "Can you call a country normal that lets pro-Japanese people cause trouble in the middle of Seoul? South Korea is the country that suffered the longest under Japanese oppression," "They should have arrested Mr. Lee instead. It's like the Japanese police," and "Is this really South Korea?"

There were also harsh comments directed at Mr. Lee, such as, "Did you receive money from Japan?" and "Even if you live like that, you'll only regret it before you die." On the other hand, there have also been voices criticizing the citizens who attacked Mr. Lee, saying things like, "Violence is unacceptable. If you want to make a claim, you should bring evidence," "Conversation is impossible when emotions dominate reason and reality," and "South Korea has become a country without justice, common sense, or law."

Teenager who threw an egg at a politician receives 7.6 million yen in legal expense donations. Not prosecuted, the boy donates the entire amount. The politician loses the election.

http://img.5ch.net/ico/006.gif

Will Connolly (17), known as the "Egg Boy," who threw an egg at a senator in Australia for making far-right remarks, revealed on the 28th that he donated approximately 100,000 Australian dollars (approximately 7.6 million yen) to the victims of the mosque shooting incident that occurred in New Zealand in March.

On March 16, Connolly approached then-Senator Fraser Anning from behind during a press conference in Melbourne and pressed a raw egg against the back of his head.

The day before, Anning had stated that Muslim immigrants were the cause of the mosque shooting incident in Christchurch, on the South Island of New Zealand, which killed 51 people. He had been widely criticized for these remarks.

After throwing the egg, Connolly received donations from many people through an online crowdfunding site, intended to cover the cost of buying more eggs and any legal expenses if he were to be prosecuted.

In April, police authorities issued Connolly a "stern warning" and decided not to prosecute him.

On the 28th, Connolly announced that he had sent "all the money" to a New Zealand charity.

He stated, "I sincerely hope that this will provide some relief to the victims of that tragedy." In Connolly's "egg incident," while she received praise, a debate also erupted in Australia regarding political protest actions.

Earlier this month, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison was also targeted in an egg-throwing incident.

In March, Connolly said on Australian television, "I understand that what I did was wrong, but this egg united people."

More than 1.4 million people signed a petition protesting against Senator Anning, who made far-right remarks and lost his seat in the Senate election. However, he refused to apologize.

After being hit with the egg, Anning punched Connolly, but in April, police authorities ruled that Anning's actions were self-defense.

In the Senate election held on May 18, Anning failed to retain his seat.

Regarding the mass shooting incident in New Zealand, an Australian Member of Parliament made discriminatory statements against Muslims, and was subsequently hit with a raw egg by a boy protesting the remarks.

The MP who was hit with the raw egg was Senator Fraser Anning, who had made the discriminatory remarks immediately after the mass shooting incident.

"That's the Rising Sun Flag! Unforgivable!" "I'll throw eggs at it!"

According to Insight Korea on October 16, 2017, an incident occurred in a parking lot in New Zealand where a Korean resident mistook a "setting sun flag" design on a car for the "Rising Sun Flag" and threw raw eggs at it.

On October 12, a thread titled "Korean resident in New Zealand commits vehicle terrorism" was posted on a Korean internet forum. The thread included two photos.

The first photo shows a car with a design resembling the Rising Sun Flag, with red colors radiating outwards from the center on the front. The second photo shows raw eggs thrown at the car's window. The thread starter explained, "A Korean person living in New Zealand was shopping at a supermarket when they saw a truck in the parking lot with a design resembling the Rising Sun Flag and became enraged, throwing eggs at it."

However, it was later revealed that the design in the photo, while very similar to the "Rising Sun Flag," was actually the "Setting Sun Flag," which has a completely different meaning.

While the Rising Sun Flag symbolizes "the rising sun in the sky," the Setting Sun Flag symbolizes "the setting sun." The Setting Sun Flag was a design formerly used by the US military's "Sundowners" fighter squadron on their aircraft.

It depicts the Rising Sun Flag cut in half horizontally, representing the sun setting beyond the horizon. In other words, it carries the meaning of "praying for Japan's defeat." Looking closely at the car in the photo, multiple bullet holes are also depicted on the Setting Sun Flag.

Regarding this, other Korean internet users criticized the Korean person who couldn't distinguish between the Rising Sun Flag and the Setting Sun Flag, with comments such as, "How embarrassing," "Koreans should learn history," and "What a terrible thing to do to an innocent person's car..."

Some also pointed out, "Even if it were the Rising Sun Flag, there's no right to throw raw eggs," "It's shameful how low the level of Koreans is for throwing raw eggs just because they don't like something," and "Even if it were the Rising Sun Flag, they should protest verbally. Violence is absolutely unacceptable."

On the other hand, some expressed understanding, saying, "I didn't know about the Setting Sun Flag either," "They look so similar. It's understandable to be mistaken," and "An ordinary person who isn't knowledgeable about military matters would easily misunderstand."

Others argued, "The reason Koreans react so sensitively is because the Rising Sun Flag is used casually in Japan and around the world," and "More effort is needed to spread awareness about the meaning of the Rising Sun Flag and Japan's past atrocities to the world." http://news.livedoor.com/lite/article_detail/13756168/

[South Korea/THAAD] Buying missiles with melons... Farmers enraged by South Korean military's appeasement tactics, throw eggs and chase away Deputy Minister of National Defense [9/01]

South Korea is in turmoil over the deployment of the US military's state-of-the-art ground-based interceptor system, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD). This is because the detection radar deployed with the missile system will allow for detailed monitoring of military aircraft activity over Chinese airspace, leading to strong opposition from China.

In addition, residents of the area where the deployment was decided have been holding protest demonstrations, claiming that "crops will fail due to the electromagnetic waves from the radar." In an attempt to resolve this situation, the South Korean military implemented a bizarre "operation." What will be the outcome of this "melon operation"?

The Town of Melons

In South Korea, "melon" refers to the Korean melon (Cucumis melo var. makuwa). "Real" melons, such as muskmelons, are technically difficult to cultivate, and for a long time after the Korean War, the average South Korean citizen, living in extreme poverty, had absolutely no connection to such luxury items as melons.

Therefore, there is a history of calling the inexpensive yellow Korean melon simply "melon."

The largest production area of this Korean melon is Seongju County in Gyeongsangbuk-do. This is the location where the US is attempting to deploy THAAD.

A "county" in South Korea is considered to be the size of a town or village in Japan, and Seongju County has a population of approximately 46,000. Currently, banners protesting THAAD are displayed on the main street of Seongju. On July 15th, just two days after the South Korean Ministry of National Defense decided to deploy THAAD in Seongju County, Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn and Deputy Minister of National Defense Han Min-koo visited Seongju County.

According to South Korean news agency Yonhap News and others, the two apologized, saying, "We are sorry that we could not inform you in advance," but the enraged residents threw eggs and plastic bottles at them.

Ten days after the deployment decision, on July 23rd, a large-scale protest rally was held, and according to South Korean KBS television, on July 30th, 200 farmers performed a protest by destroying their melon fields, including the greenhouses.

There is also a somewhat incomprehensible movement to attempt to set a world record for the largest number of people simultaneously shaving their heads (buzz cut) as a form of protest.

The reason for the opposition is "electromagnetic waves." Residents are concerned about the possibility of health damage from the electromagnetic waves emitted by the high-performance radar, as well as damage to crops such as melons.

The THAAD radar is designed to monitor the air, and the radio waves and electromagnetic waves are emitted upwards. The installation site is also on a hill overlooking residential areas and fields.

The idea of "electromagnetic wave damage" in such a location is quite bizarre, but in South Korea, once a "superstition" spreads, it knows no bounds.

In the past, there is a not-so-funny story about how people indiscriminately pulled out survey markers that were installed during the Japanese annexation period, claiming that "the Japanese imperialists planted them to sever the earth's energy lines to weaken Korea," resulting in the inability to create proper maps. http://www.sankei.com/west/news/160901/wst1609010004-n1.html

[South Korea] Eggs Thrown at Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn... Police Launch Investigation [7/18]

Police have launched an investigation into the incident in which eggs and plastic bottles were thrown at Prime Minister Hwang Kyo-ahn, who was explaining the reasons for selecting the candidate site for the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile system in Seongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do.

On the 15th, Prime Minister Hwang visited Seongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do to persuade residents who were protesting the THAAD deployment. However, residents who attended the briefing threw eggs and plastic bottles at Prime Minister Hwang, showing strong opposition.

Prime Minister Hwang, who was hit by raw eggs, took refuge in a car, but was unable to move for six hours because residents surrounded the vehicle.

On the 16th, the police announced that they would form a dedicated investigation team at the Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Police Agency to identify those who participated in the violent acts. Police officials stated, "We will investigate based on evidence to confirm whether the eggs and plastic bottles constitute dangerous items, and who exactly the perpetrators were. We cannot determine which legal provisions will apply until the investigation progresses."

Even if the residents' actions were intended to criticize the government's lack of communication, they are expected to be punished as they constitute "violence using objects."

There have been numerous instances in the past where prime ministers, former presidents, and presidential candidates have been hit with eggs.

In 1991, during the Kim Young-sam administration, Jung Won-sik, who was about to assume the position of prime minister, received a "baptism" of flour and eggs from students while giving his final lecture at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

At that time, a large number of students from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies who participated in the incident were prosecuted and sentenced to imprisonment for violating laws against violent acts. http://japanese.joins.com/article/334/218334.html

Popular French Economy Minister pelted with raw eggs by angry workers

【AFP=Jiji】In France, where protests against labor law reforms are intensifying, on the 6th, Emmanuel Macron (38), the Minister of Economy, who is said to be one of the most popular cabinet ministers, was pelted with raw eggs by angry trade union activists.

Macron, who comes from a Rothschild-affiliated bank, consistently receives higher approval ratings in opinion polls than the completely unpopular president and prime minister, and recently he is also said to harbor ambitions to become president.

However, when Macron attended an event in the suburbs of Paris, his support for labor law reforms angered the left wing, and angry union activists shouted "Get out!" at him and threw raw eggs.

Macron, whose hair was stained with egg yolk, condemned their actions, saying, "They acted rudely without even listening," and stated that those who threw the eggs were "professional agitators."

Last month, Economy Minister Macron met with the country's largest labor union...

A video was filmed showing a heated exchange between the minister and two members of the CGT (General Confederation of Labor), a French trade union confederation.

In the video, the minister is heard saying, "The best way to be able to afford a suit is to work," to which one of the union members replies, "Mr. Macron, but I dream of working." [Translation and editing] AFPBB News

From my perspective as a Japanese person, it's simply an act of violence, but it seems that some people consider it an act protected under the constitution as freedom of expression in political activity. Therefore, in Europe and America, it seems to be surprisingly tolerated, similar to throwing tomatoes or oranges.

Foreigners coming to Japan for travel or study should be wary of egg-throwing incidents by Japanese people.
