The Death of Iran has been postponed for five days.

The threat to destroy Iran's infrastructure, including power plants, and massacre Iranian civilians (hospitals and welfare facilities would also be blacked out) has been postponed for five days.

Considering the high morale of the Iranian people, they are highly likely to withstand air attacks (conversely, the morale of the US military is declining).

Even in modern warfare, air and naval forces are supplementary forces. It is difficult to achieve ultimate victory in war without deploying ground forces to seize enemy territory, not just through assassinations of key figures or airstrikes (cf. (Annapolis, MD: Naval Institute Press, 1988)).

In the Vietnam War, no matter how many airstrikes the US launched, they could not defeat the North Vietnamese army using guerrilla tactics. Conversely, in the Iraq War, the rapid deployment of ground forces led to the war ending quickly.

Venezuela, from the US perspective, is more like a "front door" than a "backyard," making it relatively easy to "subjugate" it. However, this should be considered a geopolitically exceptional case (Cuba, while struggling considerably, is still holding on).

Iraq and Iran have quite different geographical characteristics. Iran is vast, surrounded by mountains on all sides, and its major cities are interconnected in a network. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps is likely to launch guerrilla attacks from the surrounding mountains against invading US ground forces, potentially leading to a protracted war.

In short, Iran can be described as having a 360-degree "" covering its entire territory (cf. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kill_zone).

Currently, the majority of idolize and believe in Mr. Trump as the "savior of humanity," and it is estimated that nearly 80% of Republican "supporters" (not Republicans) "support" the war against Iran (conversely, nearly 80% of Democratic "supporters" oppose the war against Iran, resulting in a close split in public opinion overall). While it's possible that agents from US intelligence agencies (presumably not the CIA) are using "SAKURA" to manipulate public opinion online, this is likely only a small part of the problem.

However, if US military casualties increase in the future, the above figures could change and potentially affect the midterm elections in the fall.

The US government may be hoping to use the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament as a negotiating partner to make the Iranian government a puppet, but many Iranian parliamentarians are former members of the Revolutionary Guard Corps. It will not be easy for the US government to bring about regime change (democratization) in Iran, or to turn the Iranian government into a US puppet regime (like the Venezuelan government).

Conversely, if Iran destroys the seawater filtration plants of neighboring countries and Israel, as it has warned, the situation will become desperate.

My prediction is that President Trump will either continue relentless airstrikes to delay the deployment of ground troops as much as possible, or conversely, declare victory unilaterally at an appropriate time and withdraw.

The semi-official Mehr news agency, citing an Iranian source, said there is “no dialogue” between Tehran and Washington.

The source said Trump’s comments were part of his efforts “to lower energy prices and buy time to implement military plans.”

The Iranian source acknowledged that regional countries have put forward initiatives aimed at reducing tensions.

“We are not the party that started this war, and all such demands should be directed to Washington,” he added.

Trump said Monday that he has ordered a 5-day postponement of all strikes on Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure, citing “very good and productive” talks with Tehran over the past two days.

“I am pleased to report that the United States of America and the country of Iran have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East,” Trump said on his social media platform Truth Social.

Trump added that based on the “tenor and tone of these in-depth, detailed, and constructive conversations, which [sic] will continue throughout the week," he has instructed the Department of Defense to postpone all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period.

The pause is subject to the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions, he added.

This comes as regional escalation has continued to flare since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing so far over 1,340 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
