"KOLONA" (Kosovo, 2012)

Lunes, 23 de marzo de 2026:
At night, in my Japanese-style room, I watched the following a short film.
Recorded on the built-in HDD of my DIGA (2017 model). Aired on BS12 on March 21, 2026, at 9:00 PM.
SATURDAY SHORT THEATER "KOLONA" (Kosovo, 2012, 23 minutes long, original language Albanian & Serbian, with Japanese subtitles).

An excellent film. The structure is superb.
"KOLONA" is Albanian. In English, it's "column," and in French, "COLONNE." According to the dictionary, it means "one or more lines of people or vehicles moving in the same direction."

A film based on a true story. It has such a sense of tension that it could be mistaken for a documentary.

The acting of the actors playing Serbian soldiers is also superb and makes them seem authentic.

It's unclear what purpose or benefit the Serbian soldiers' leaders had in making such choices (perhaps to use them as targets for new recruits' shooting practice?), but in reality, there may have been cases involving "wife and daughter," "wife and mother," "wife and sister," "son and daughter," or "multiple daughters."
Such war casualties are likely to remain largely unknown because they inflict deep psychological suffering and self-reproach on the victims (they are tormented by guilt and continue to blame themselves).

The Kosovo War took place from February 1998 to June 1999, for approximately 1 year and 4 months. During this period, the Yugoslav army carried out massacres as part of its ethnic cleansing operations, including:

 Lake Radonjić massacre
 Gornje Obrinje massacre
 Panda Bar massacre
 Bela Crkva massacre
 Krusha massacres
 Suva Reka massacre
 Izbica massacre
 Rezalla massacre
 Drenica massacres
 Podujevo massacre
 Poklek massacre
 Pastasel massacre
 Meja massacre
 Vushtrri massacre
 Ćuška massacre
 Staro Gracko massacre

 This many massacres occurred.
It is presumed that countless other killings, not "massacres," like those depicted in this film, were largely unrecorded.

On the other hand, NATO forces also carried out nearly 40,000 airstrikes against Serbian cities and other areas, committing "massacres" of civilians.

 Kosovo gained independence in 2008.
Both Japan and Taiwan recognized Kosovo as a state in the same year.
