In Japanese society, receiving such “sexual entertainment”—that is, being provided with high-quality women at no cost—has also functioned as a status symbol for men who possess high social standing, power, wealth, and fame. Even recently, a professor at the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Medicine was arrested for bribery.
South Koreans, it seems, are not content with merely using extensive plastic surgery to adopt a “Japanese-looking” face; they also emulate the Japanese practice (or perhaps, Japanese culture?) of providing “sexual entertainment.” In fact, such practices—essentially prostitution—are now more prevalent in South Korea than they are in Japan, the “original home” of the custom.
