 On December 2, 2025, a post on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, expressing dissatisfaction with the rapid cooling in Japan-China relations triggered by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's "Taiwan emergency" remarks, garnered attention. He expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that "Singapore, which should have nothing to do with this, is siding with Japan."

 On December 2, 2025, Hu Zhanhao, a Chinese investment expert with 4.33 million followers on Weibo, posted a video titled "Why did Singapore side with Japan?" on his Weibo account, "Zhanhao."

 Hu Zhanhao commented that the current deterioration in Japan-China relations "could even be a prelude to future war," and argued that "Singapore, which is supposedly uninvolved, is siding with Japan."

He said, "Singapore fears losing its 'mediator' position between East and West.' Singapore is wary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) becoming even more pro-China." "Singapore's diplomatic strategy is a misjudgment," he pointed out.

 Chinese netizens criticized Singapore and Wong, saying, "Singapore's attitude really disappoints us," "Singapore has never been pro-China. Malaysia has the best attitude toward China in Southeast Asia," "Like Japan, the Philippines, and South Korea, Singapore has U.S. troops," and "There's no need to deal with countries with land the size of a cat's forehead."

 Meanwhile, another Chinese netizen commented, "Why doesn't anyone side with China?" and "China's only friends are Hamas, the Taliban, Russia, and North Korea."
