At night, in my Japanese-style room, I watched the following war drama.
Recorded on a USB-HDD (registration number 3) connected to a DIGA (2017 model). Aired on BS12 on November 18, 2022, at 9:00 PM.
Friday's Killer Street "World on Fire" (2019. BBC production. 7 episodes in total. Original languages: Polish, German, English. Japanese subtitles). Episode 1.
Interesting. A cast of great actors. The sense of urgency immediately after the outbreak of World War II is conveyed. High quality and technically excellent; truly worthy of the BBC.
In a scene depicting street fighting immediately after Germany's advance into Poland, a Pole carrying a white flag emerges from a building and is shot dead by a German soldier.
While this scene seems intended to illustrate the brutality of the German army, the American military frequently committed similar illegal acts against Japanese soldiers in the Pacific Frontline.
Footage exists showing Japanese soldiers being shot while raising white flags, but of course, this footage was not filmed by Japanese people, but by American war correspondents.
The footage only captures a small fraction of the events, and it is likely that the American military committed numerous similar crimes.
American war criminals were not punished after the war. Rather, it's possible they lived comfortably as war heroes after returning to America.
I have never heard of the American military committing similar crimes against Germans or Italians on the European front.
However, there was an incident where the American military massacred a large number of German soldiers they had captured after the surrender.
